Guests from the UK, Canada, and the United States joined us for a one-hour Taiko drum experience in Furano, Hokkaido.
The session began with the basics, including how to hold the drumsticks and how to strike the Taiko drum.
Taiko is not only about making a powerful sound. One of the most enjoyable parts is creating a rhythm together as a group.
During the experience, everyone practiced several basic Taiko rhythms and gradually learned how to synchronize their movements and sounds.
At first, everyone concentrated on following the rhythm, but as the session continued, the group became more confident and the sound became stronger and more united.
At the end of the experience, everyone used the rhythms they had learned to perform a complete Taiko piece together.
One of the special things about Taiko is that people can connect through rhythm even when they come from different countries and speak different languages.
It was wonderful to see everyone smiling and enjoying Japanese culture together.
