Main Experience
Japanese culture you can experience
Experience the unique charm of Japan’s traditional musical instruments: the taiko drums, the koto, and the shamisen. These beloved instruments, cherished by the Japanese people for centuries, offer a deep connection to Japan’s rich cultural heritage. Discover a truly special experience that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
和太鼓 Wadaiko
The wadaiko (Japanese drums) is a type of percussion instrument and a collective term for traditional Japanese drums. It produces sound by striking a drumhead made of stretched animal skin over a wooden body, causing it to vibrate. The history of drums in Japan dates back to around 500 BC
琴 Koto
The history of the koto is ancient, believed to have originated during the Kofun period when musical instruments from China were introduced to Japan. The koto features a long, narrow resonating body approximately 182 cm in length, with 13 strings stretched across it. Movable bridges are placed under the strings to determine the pitch, and the player produces sound by plucking the strings with finger picks called koto-zume worn on three fingers of the right hand. The bridges can be adjusted freely for tuning, and by pressing the strings to alter their tension, the koto can produce variations of up to one and a half tones.
三味線 shamisen
The shamisen is a traditional Japanese stringed instrument featuring a body (dō) covered with animal skin and a neck (sao) that passes through it, with three strings stretched across. While its construction resembles that of a guitar, it lacks frets for visually confirming scales. Instead, players press specific points called kandokoro on the neck and pluck the strings with a plectrum (bachi).
The shamisen is an instrument that originated from the Chinese sanxian, which was introduced to the Ryukyu Islands and then adapted into its Japanese form. With a history spanning approximately 500 years, it is widely recognized as a quintessential traditional Japanese instrument.

スポーツチャンバラ
Sports chambara
(Sword fight)

Following the rules, players battle each other and score points by touching their opponent’s body with the sword. It’s a safe sport that helps improve your strength and skills while having fun.
